1. Exam Mode & Language

  • The UGC NET exam is conducted online (Computer-Based Test).
  • The exam is available in English and Hindi (except certain subjects which are English only).

2. Paper Structure & Duration

3. Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
  • No negative marking for incorrect or unattempted questions.
  • Total Marks: Paper 1 (100), Paper 2 (200), Overall (300).

4. Paper 1 Topics (General Aptitude)

  • Teaching Aptitude: Teaching concepts, objectives, levels, and characteristics of teaching.
  • Research Aptitude: Research methodology, types of research, steps of research, and data interpretation.
  • Reading Comprehension: Passages and comprehension questions.
  • Communication: Types, barriers, and effective communication.
  • Reasoning (Mathematical & Logical): Series, coding, logical reasoning, analytical reasoning.
  • Data Interpretation: Tables, graphs, charts, and data analysis.
  • Information & Communication Technology (ICT): Basics of computers, internet, digital tools, and e-learning.
  • People, Development, and Environment: Human development, environment, interaction, and sustainability.
  • Higher Education System: Governance, polity, regulatory bodies, and administration in Indian universities.
  • Others: Current affairs related to education, policies, and higher education reforms.

5. Paper 2 Overview (Subject-Specific)

  • Contains 100 multiple-choice questions based on the chosen subject.
  • Questions are designed as per the NTA UGC NET syllabus for the selected subject.
  • Objective type questions covering core and applied concepts.

6. Important Instructions

  • Carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof.
  • Reach the exam centre at least 1 hour before the reporting time.
  • Electronic devices, calculators, or study materials are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
  • Follow all instructions given by the invigilators during the examination.
